Our Border Collie Bilbo out on the mud flats. No doubt he is looking for his tennis ball. He doesn't care about the view and certainly tries to avoid the water.

The Thinker: Our Border Collie Bilbo out walking at low tide.

I AM FOREVER walking upon these shores,
Betwixt the sand and the foam,
The high tide will erase my foot-prints,
And the wind will blow away the foam.
But the sea and the shore will remain

Thanks so much for the reblog, Marilyn. I’d seen this post and with my usual irreverence, couldn’t help matching up Kahlil Gibran with my dog. He’s been very philosophical during the last 12 months where as a 7 year old dog he has tried sailing, kayaking, capsizing the kayak when he really didn’t like getting his paws wet. We also bought our second dog, Lady, abut 3 months ago and he had alot of philosophical musing after that: what’s that dog doing in my yard? That’s my Mum and Dad!! Life can be quite challenging for a dog after all! xx Rowena

hahahaha yes i have the same problem with my dog and my kitty. Unfortunately the cat wins most of the time. She does not like anybody to be on moms lap, not even the dog. He thinks the cat is a lap protector sometimes. The fun starts when she goes to eat and he jumps up for mommy hugs. hahahahahahahahaha

Sounds like you have some serious sibling rivalry going on there. If I want Bilbo to come over for a cuddle, I call out “Lady” and in seconds he’s saying hello. Lady, of course, who deems it beneath her royal status to budge, stays put but has been known to respond when we call for Bilbo. Funny dogs. My husband is allergic to cats so much to our daughter’s disappointment…no cats in the house.
